Trigo offers a solution to provide quick and convenient access to an experienced sports physiotherapist for advice on injury rehabilitation and performance optimisation.

Many athletes suffer far too long with pain

Sport and physical activity is superb for general health, however on the flip side, this can result in too much load on the body. This can manifest as an acute injury episode or cause strain beyond the body tolerance due to repetition. When the athlete develops pain through overload, this means they may be unable to carry out the activity to the level required.

Our experience is that many young and adult athletes tend to endure pain for too long. The good news is Ttere is a lot of knowledge and research about how to handle acute injuries and strain injuries, however information is not useful unless it is accessible and timely.

Many athletes, parents and coaches are very unsure about how to deal with pain and injury problems. Is rest needed? Should I train? How should I train? Is there a need for treatment? Who should we contact for help? Does this require an X-ray or MRI? Can I manage this myself?

Most sports clubs do not have access to qualified and experienced health personnel to help with injury assessment and management, hence all too often the athlete simply refrains from training in the hope that the issue will resolve itself. Unfortunately, even if the symptoms subside, it is sub-optimal for the athlete if the causes of the pain are not addressed. In many cases, there is insufficient attention paid to building the athlete’s physical ability to withstand the rigours of training when they return to action.

Through our network of physiotherapists, the practitioner (perhaps together with parents) can get a 10-15 minute advisory video consultation. In the course of the consultation, the physiotherapist will advise if there is an issue that requires a further examination or if it is something you can manage yourself: often there is a lot you can do yourself by following specific tasks delivered by your sports physiotherapist directly into your Trigo app.
